Related topics 1. General description Trawers is in on-going development. The new software releases with extensions, changes and improvements are available on our ftp server. We also publish a history of changes. 2. Release cycle Due to the on-going development of the software, update to a non-current release is not an option, e.g., it is not possible to update to version TR 5.1 when version 5.3 is already in distribution. The development of Trawers is marked by its subsequent releases. Each release is tagged with its issue date, e.g. release of 20xx.04.14. Changes in subsequent releases are described in the history of changes. A new release appears approximately every two weeks. 3. On-going updates, not like Service Pack The update system of Trawers is different from e.g. Microsoft Windows software or Office suite, sold at a chosen version with no upgrading required, with previous releases receiving Service Pack updates for a limited time. Trawers is developed and updated in a constant manner. New releases incorporate new functions and fix any issues reported since the previous release. At any time, there is only one release which is developed and maintained, and that is the latest release. In order to have access to new features and improvements, users need to update the program regularly. Updates are free of charge for the first 12 months from the original purchase of license. A subscription can be purchased for the following years. 4. Service and consultations for the latest release only When providing our consultations and service, we assume that the user is running the current release. We expect each service request to provide a release date, and will not be able to provide assistance with very old releases. Sometimes our Partners can help in maintenance of older versions. As a condition for providing consultations and service, we require that the reported issues be verified on the latest release of the software. We recommend to download each new release as it comes out and to perform regular updates. Due to our years of experience, strict control procedures and the number of users who rely on our software, the risk of malfunction is minimal. However, malfunction may still appear and therefore we recommend testing the key functions of the software after updating, possibly on a copy of your own data or on the sample data provided with the demo. 5. Remote updates The software can be updated automatically online. Currently most of our Partners update their dependent systems remotely.
